Due to recent tragedy, the Milwaukee Polo Club has cancelled their game on June 21st, 2008 against Iowa. Next week, the Friday night game and Sunday game against Minnesota are on as scheduled.
The Milwaukee Polo Club will open the season on Friday, June 27th at 6pm against Minnesota, followed by a match on Sunday, June 29th. We hope to see you there!
Andres Gaudio, a 21 year old polo player from Argentina, and member to the Milwaukee Polo Club, was killed on Thursday, June 19, while riding on his horse at Jim Huber's farm in Hartland. According to Huber, Gaudio was conditioning a 6 year old mare, which he rode and played regularly since March, 2008, when she apparently was spooked by a deer crossing the exercise trail. Gaudio lost his balance to one side and suffered head injuries when he hit a tree.
"We lost a truly good horseman," said Huber. "And more important, we lost a dear friend - and one who had become a part of our family since arriving from Argentina in March".
"Andy will be remembered as a truly remarkable, hard working, talented, and cheerful young man," said Huber. "He had everything to live for. There is nothing he enjoyed more than riding and playing polo - and he always went about it with a smile on his face."
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gustavo Gaudio, and a younger brother and sister.
